The game contains three possible variations including baccarat banque also known as a deux tableaux, railway also known as baccarat chemin de fer and the North American version which is called punto banco. The latter involves absolutely no strategy or skill and is purely a game of luck. Every player must make his or her move according to the cards dealt. However, the first two versions of Baccarat involve choices on the part of each player introducing a certain degree of skill to the casino game.

Basically, the game is quite simple and involves only 3 possibilities: Banker, Tie and Player. The cards 2 to 9 are worth face value, Aces are worth 1 point, while face cards and 10s are worth zero. After all players calculate their hands, they must subtract the ten digit from their hand. For example a hand of 8 and 2 = (8+3 = 11 = 1). The best hand you can obtain in the game is a 9. Ironically, the term baccarat signifies the word hand of the game – a zero.
